Affidavit of Support??? 2008/03/16 22:19 Karma: 0
Hello!
It's been more than two years that i have an american boyfriend, we spend our time going 3 months in USA, going 3 months in France...When i'm going to US, i cannot work legally (tourist visa) and it's the same for my boyfriend when he comes to France. We want to get married and live in USA, so apply for the green card. Do we have to give up just because of the affidavit of support? He's living half time in france, half in USA and I don't think he will be able to prove that he can "support" me...I'm living in the south of france, i don't know if it's a good idea to go in Paris and pay if finally the embassy says it's not possible...I don't really know what to do... can his family sponsors us even if he's not student?
Thank you for your answer!

Your application will not be accepted if your future husband can't prove he has the means to support you.
We did not eithet, and had to get my parents in law to act as a support. They file the affidavit in his place since we were just graduating when we got married.
You will need to find a US citizen willing to take this tep for you. It is a pretty big step as they will be responsible for you financially until you become a us citizen or for a minimum of 10 years even if you divorce. A good amoutn of trust must be part of your relationship with this supporting person...
