So i was married to an american citizen and lived in the US for 2.5 years. He was military and due to his deployment we were told we could put the app for greencard on hold. On his return we were having major problems that resulted in us breaking up whereupon I returned to the UK. Since then I have met someone else and when I tried to return to the US last month, I was refused based upon me not having adjusted my status the last time I was there. It was stated that I needed a visa to re-enter the US and I was turned around. i couldnt believe it! over £600 wasted and there was nothing I could do about it. Anyways, they told me that I had to apply to the US embassy for a visa and then I would be allowed in. Based on what my case officer said to me in New York where i flew to, he said I should go and within the 90 day allowance get married and MAKE SURE that we apply for a greencard within that time frame also. Here's the thing though: at my appt on the 22nd JUly when I go to the embassy, I have to prove that I will be returning to the Uk after my visit. Our concern is that when i get there and marry my fiance and we apply for greencard that it will be refused! I need advice on this and as to whether thi is alikley to happen. I am a UK citizen and white. (not sure if the last part matters or not) but i dont want to get there and marry him and have that happen! I couldnt take it! advice needed urgently!
