Hello,
I'll try to make this as short and uncomplicated as possible. For starters, I hope everything worked out well for you and your fiancee. My boyfriend and I are currently going through something very similar. He is French and I'm American. I came to France in May of this year and plan to stay for a year to go to school, and then for both of us to return to the US next summer. We are planning to get married here in France and then apply for his green card while we are here, but it seems we are hitting ...

So i was married to an american citizen and lived in the US for 2.5 years. He was military and due to his deployment we were told we could put the app for greencard on hold. On his return we were having major problems that resulted in us breaking up whereupon I returned to the UK. Since then I have met someone else and when I tried to return to the US last month, I was refused based upon me not having adjusted my status the last time I was there. It was stated that I needed a visa to re-enter the US and I w...

Hello,

I found your web site yesterday and it seems very helpful. But I got confused by some recent changes at the US embassy in Paris and am seeking your advice.

Here is our background. I am French and live with my fiancee who is a US citizen. We currently live in the US and I am here under a work visa (L1). However, my employer will soon terminate my employment which means that I will lose my visa status and will need to return to France. We got engaged before learning this situation change and pla...

Your application will not be accepted if your future husband can't prove he has the means to support you.
We did not eithet, and had to get my parents in law to act as a support. They file the affidavit in his place since we were just graduating when we got married.
You will need to find a US citizen willing to take this tep for you. It is a pretty big step as they will be responsible for you financially until you become a us citizen or for a minimum of 10 years even if you divorce. A good amoutn of trust...

Hello!
It's been more than two years that i have an american boyfriend, we spend our time going 3 months in USA, going 3 months in France...When i'm going to US, i cannot work legally (tourist visa) and it's the same for my boyfriend when he comes to France. We want to get married and live in USA, so apply for the green card. Do we have to give up just because of the affidavit of support? He's living half time in france, half in USA and I don't think he will be able to prove that he can support me...I'm...

Hi everybody:)
My name is julien, I am a French citizen and my girlfriend is Russian. She has a green card and lives in Los Angeles.

We would like to get married.

Do you think it is better to get married in the US? I would have to come under a visa waiver tourist entry I94, or is it better to get married in France?

How long would I have to wait before I can legally come and see her in California?

Could we get married in France in September 2008 and apply for a K3 visa? I think a K3 visa is for...

Hi,
well you won't need a green card until you plan to move to the USA.
If you are going to get married in France and will live there for a while (I would advise 2 years or more, you will see why later) then just apply for the green card about 6 months before you are ready to move to the USA.
The green card is essentiallya permanent residence card (carte de sejour en france) and therefore you dont need one if you don't live in the USA. Moreover, once you get approved, you have to move to the USA within a...

Hello there!

In the summer they asked for more documents other than the ones I already submited and than I got a letter saying that I will be contacted by the local office to schedule the interview. There was no interview after all, I just got the GC in the mail.
